Samson

Samson is best known for his massive physical strength as well as his spiritual and emotional weakness in the arms of Delilah. She was paid by the Philistine leaders to seduce this famous judge into sharing the secret of his strength. Samson could easily have saved the Israelites, instead, he succumbed to lust and pride, which made him weak and useless for the spiritual battle the enemy waged against him using Delilah. He confided in her that his hair had never been cut as a symbol of the special relationship he had with God. Once she lulled him to sleep, she cut his hair and turned him over to the Philistines. His strength was not in the hair, but the Spirit of God that empowered him to overcome any physical challenge that he encountered, until now. As a result of misusing God’s divine strength, Samson spent his final days weak, blinded and chained in a Philistine dungeon. He prayed to God for one last chance, killing himself and his enemies by pushing down the pillars supporting their temple.
