Isaiah is considered the greatest of all the Hebrew writers. A prophet in Judah during the reign of kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. He sought to save Judah from continual moral, political and social decline. Constantly warning them to forsake the idolatry and apostasy at the root of its corruption and turn to God. He warned of God’s imminent judgment, declared the inevitable fall of Judah with the preservation of a small godly remnant. (Isa 6:9-13) Through this small remnant worldwide redemption would eventually come through the prophesied Messiah at His first advent. (Isa 9:2, 6; 53:1-12, etc.)
